I've been seeing a lot of posters and emails this week about the April 30th Rally to Stop Genocide in Washington DC and for some reason have been very drawn to attend, even though I'm not well educated about what is going on in Darfur. According to SaveDarfur.org, the rally is a culmination of a 22-city tour by Brian Steidle, a former Marine captain who has witnessed what is going on in Darfur. You can see photos he took here and see a map of related events happening near you here.
While searching Technorati for bloghers writing about what is going on in Darfur (I didn't really find any. If you know of some, please send them to me), I came across a post in the Huffington Post by Jane Wells about how on April 11th she and her son will be walking five miles from Kigali to Nyanza in Rwanda in memory of the people who were killed there 12 years ago.
Even more interesting is Jane's web site, Three Generations. The three generations represents Jane's father, Sidney Bernstein, who witnessed the Holocaust while filming the documentary A Painful Reminder, Jane and her son. Jane is also working on a documentary about the genocide in Darfur called The Devil Came on Horseback.
The New York Times has a big article today called " If Not Peace, Then Justice" about Darfur which I'm going to read as soon as I finish this post.
