Breast Cancer: A Survivor's Perspective on New Research
by mipmup

Contributing Editor mipmup also blogs at mipmup.

Two studies were released today on breast cancer: one addresses the need for chemotherapy and the other shows that post-menopausal women who have had a hysterectomy may take estrogen without increasing their risk of cancer. One blogger — a breast cancer survivor — gives us her opinion.

Thoughts of an Average Woman posts a link to an article about the study, her reaction as a survivor who has undergone the "draining" experience of chemo and brings us a meaningful critique on the social, political and economic issues of breast cancer.

What I am trying to point to in this post is the medical communities continuing lack of concensus [sic] on treatment for breast cancers as well as the apathy of society to address the epidemic numbers of women effected by breast cancer. I watch the news on breast cancer treatments, new and changing, and I can't help but wonder why it is taking so long for serious and meaningful changes to occur.

Excellent post.
