Who's the Boss star and WB icon Alyssa Milano has joined the Net Neutrality conversation. Check out her blog for some stirring words on the topic.
Majikthiese takes a more policy-focused, yet still fiery approach to the issue that's creating a lot of heat for Congress, Telcos, and Mike McCurry, Clinton's former Press Secretary.
She writes: "If we lose net neutrality, the telecom companies will unleash gouging on an epic scale. Net neutrality means that your service provider can't blackmail you into paying for upgraded service in order to download podcasts or make purchases online. Under the new rules, the companies would be able to force ordinary users to the back of the line unless they pay stiff "upgrade" fees to buy back the capacity that used to be guaranteed to all subscribers. "
As has been written here before, this issue stings for everyone who needs a broadband Internet. The lobbying bucks are flying. This is an unusually popular, populist issue for telecoms, and one every blogger can mobilize on.

Good Post, Morra.
Just recently, when complaining to our cable company about the unreliability of our cable modem connection, it was suggested that upgrading to a "business account" and paying more money monthly would buy us better, or at least more accessible, service. I'm seeing this as much more insidious now. Ugh.

I meant to add...
...that if these things get through Congress, we'd certainly lose the small but much-needed extra money that our little cottage internet-based sideline brings us. No more free "storefronts" for folks like us!

Not to derail the actual topic...
But, WOW, she has a beautiful site!
Let's invite her to Blogher!
I mean, why not?
