Hi, I'm Liz, and I'll be posting here about Latin American women's blogs.

I would love to be able to say, "Here's what's happening this week in the Latin American blogosphere." But I don't have that big picture! For now, I'm going to point to women's blogs that I find, and give you some commentary.

For non-Spanish speakers, I recommend that you try reading these blogs with Google Language Tools and automatic translation. It's imperfect, but you'll get a basic idea. What if every day, we all read a blog and a newspaper that was from a language and culture not our own?

As I search for women's blogs in (Spanish-speaking) Latin America, I'm finding small clusters, often grouped by country. I'll hit a batch of Chilean lefty anarchist feminists, or a strongly-linked group of Argentinian literary types. It's very interesting.

So please bear with me as I learn what's out there and as I make an attempt to make these blogs more visible to English-speaking blogging women!

Hi Denise!

A couple of days ago a woman from Cuba has left her blog address in my blog: La lesbiana argentina ( http://lalesbianaargentina.blogspot.com/ )
. Here is hers: Mariposas ( http://chantalplata.blogspot.com/ )

Lesbian writing there.

Hugs, Gabby

There's some collections of Cuban expat blogs, but I haven't looked deeply enough to start linking them up yet. As for blogs from inside Cuba... there's newspapers and web sites, but nothing unmediated, personal, and bloggy that I've seen - yet.

I looked a little bit last week but had no luck and my daughter asked her Spanish teacher and she said "Cuban Blogs, I don't think so..."

Another Liz, hooray!

I'm going to my third Spanish class tonight, so I look forward to checking out the blogs you find as I work on my Spanish. :)

Welcome!
