I stumbled onto the F*CK movie website a couple of days ago and am once again feeling grouchy about missing SXSW 2006. Did any of you see it? Do you know anything about "The Four Letter Film"? Will it ever come to my little independent movie theater? Did you know one of the co-producers, Christine Pechera is fighting Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and is in dire need of a bone marrow transplant?

Our beloved Christine is in the US battling cancer, and urgently needs to find a bone marrow donor. Unfortunately, finding a perfect match for her bone marrow type is particularly difficult. This is hard enough for the average person; there are over 20,000 types of bone marrow, so the average person has a 1 in 20,000 chance of finding a match. These numbers are even worse for Christine. Because she is Filipino, she needs to find a donor of the same ethnic background, and there are hardly any Filipinos on the US National Registry.

Every year, more than 35,000 people develop a condition that could be treated or cured through a marrow or stem cell transplant. Because tissue traits are inherited, the most likely match will come from someone with the same or similar ethnic background. Patients of Asian, Native American, Hispanic, Latino, Black and African American decent continue to struggle to find a donor. If you're interested in learning more about the donor program or making a much needed donation, you can learn more about the program here.

If you can't make a marrow or cord donation, you can purchase a Fuck Cancer wristband to show your support and help defray some of the financial burden she's facing.
