Kombu is Calling You

Sea vegetables are an excellent addition to your wellness regime. The health benefits are diverse — ranging from help for cancer to relief from menopause. While I've never been affronted by the idea of eating seaweed, some may be wary. Maybe these bloggers can change your mind about one in particular: kombu.

LadyBex Nutrition posts an excellent introduction to kombu: "a brown seaweed cultivated in Japan...eaten both raw and cooked." Visit her blog for more information about its forms, preparation and how it can help the thyroid function.

Articles by Dr. Susan B. Kowalsky, N.D., the blog of a naturopathic doctor trained in both conventional medicine and natural therapies, answers a question about how kombu can help vegans in particular.

Finally, Recipes, a new blog of a holistic health practitioner from Canada, has a recipe for Healing Shaitake Tempeh Soup that includes kombu.

Seaweed

I'm just discovering the benefits of seaweed. I'm starting to think it's one of the most important plants for medicine.
