When you can't do any real traveling, you can still go around the world on the food blogs. For me, food is one of the most interesting ways to observe cultural differences . . .
In a post I absolutely loved, Tami of Running with Tweezers confesses to eating McDonalds Asian Chicken Salad, but goes on to lament about how much more interesting the food is at McDonalds around the world.
Responding to people who reach her blog by searching, Susan at The Porcini Chronicles writes from Italy about eating raw pancetta.
From Virginia, s'kat and the food shows how Italian Tuna Salad is far superior to the American version.
Fiber, from 28 Cooks in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, introduces us to an Egyptian spice blend called Dukkah.
Finally, in an amazing piece of blogging work, Virginie from the vegan blog Absolutely Green publishes a true Around the World Recap from France for Weekend Herb Blogging. Not only does she post it in French and English, but she finds photos of 25 locations around the world and includes them as she spotlights the food choices of 25 bloggers from various locations who participated. Check out part one, part two, and part three. (Weekend Herb Blogging is a food blogging event sponsored by my own blog, Kalyn's Kitchen, and Virginie is the third blogger who has been a guest host for the weekly event.)
Blogher contributing editor Kalyn Denny also blogs at Kalyn's Kitchen.
