Only at BlogHer '06: Be among the first to see the new MomsRising documentary

BlogHer Original Post

Motherhood Manifesto Joan Blades is well known as the co-founder of MoveOn, but she has taken that activist passion and ability to set the grassroots on fire and started a new organization, and a new mission. The organization is MomsRising, and the mission is to "champion core motherhood and family issues in political, social, and economic spheres."

You may know about the organization's book, The Motherhood Manifesto, but did you know they've also shot a documentary by the same name.

Well, it's still in final edit mode, but Joan is bringing a copy of the film to BlogHer and will be giving BlogHers a sneak preview of this hour-long documentary on Saturday night, July 29th, from 7-8PM.

Here is the official description of the film:

The Motherhood Manifesto film shares the heartfelt stories of mothers in America. From mothers who dream of jobs with flexibility and benefits, to mothers who can't afford their children's health and childcare expenses, this film captures what it means to be a mother in America today. This groundbreaking film also celebrates the successes of companies that have discovered the value of good family policies, families who are making it work, model childcare programs, and legislation that supports families—proving solutions are possible.

I've seen a preview and can attest to it being pretty frustrating, surprising and finally, motivating and inspiring.

So, don't miss this opportunity to get a sneak peek at this new documentary. Don't worry, there will still be plenty of food and drink for you before and after the movie!
