CNN reports another round of Israeli airstrikes hit Beirut's international airport and other targets around Lebanon early Monday as Western countries made plans to evacuate their citizens from the war-torn country.

The bombardment opened a sixth day of attacks on Lebanon after the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers by Hezbollah guerrillas. Hezbollah has responded by firing short-range missiles into Israel.

The Huffington Post has a wrap up of developments including, “Twenty-One Americans Evacuated From Lebanon…Eight Canadians Killed By Israeli Air Strike In Lebanon…G-8 Leaders Condemn Hezbollah, Urge Restraint For Israel…Hezbollah: “We Are In Our Full Strength And Power And Will Act Without Limits…Lebanese Civilians Killed In Israeli Strikes On Southern City…

Meryl Yourish writes on the deaths of civilians in Israel and critiques Associated Press coverage, “Hezbullah killed eight civilians in Haifa today, in a deliberate attempt to—kill civilians.

A Diary of a Mother Under Occupation relays news from her home in Gaza, “The nights are turning into days, and days into nights, as the sonic booming shocks them awake, shattering windows and terrorizing the population. The stress is taking its toll, but to quote my Aunt, though they are not living with ease, they are living with resolve. Medicines are also running dangerously low. And to add to the misery, Israeli tanks have blockaded northern Gaza, where my Aunt lives, and where our house is, from southern Gaza, where my 84 year old grandmother lives on her own. I think of them every day. I still cringe when I see news helicopters; or fireworks; or thunder; Today we had a thunderstorm, and the thunder was so loud it scared Yousuf, who thought it was gunfire and shelling, as I tried to assure him he was safe. But I wondered, inside of myself, does safe have an address?

Sex Kitten in Training writes from Israel, “Well, insanity or no, I decided to enjoy the 'last night' of normal Tel Aviv life by pigging out on sushi and my favorite diet soy ice cream (really good stuff-105 calories a scoop. I am completely addicted. One scoop of lime and one scoop of chocolate-orange...yum!). Then it was off to buy my war supplies: a six pack of bottled water, peanut butter, rasberry fruit spread, bread and two containers of non-perishable milk. Granted, the stuff is nasty, but desperate times call for desperate measures, and life with no electricity and therefore no milk and no coffee falls under the category of desperation inducing situations.
