White Chocolate Lava Cakes

Chocolate lava cakes are one of the world’s great indulgences, and I love to make them at home any time I feel like treating myself to a special chocolate treat. They’re not difficult to make, but they have to be eaten as soon as they come out of the oven, so they’re more time-sensitive than most desserts. The typical chocolate lava cake is made with dark chocolate for a rich chocolate truffle flavor ....more

Bites from other Blogs

Caramel corn is a treat that I find is dangerous to keep in my kitchen, since I tend to eat it much, much faster than I would like. As if ordinary caramel corn weren’t addictive enough, Cookie Madness cooked up some Bourbon Caramel Corn that sounds even more delicious. The caramel used to coat the popcorn has a generous splash of bourbon that adds a lot of complexity to this snack ....more

Two desserts are usually better than one, but when that one dessert already combines two favorites, you know you can’t go wrong. Buddha’s Hand Shortbread

The zest is generally the most flavorful part of any citrus fruit because it contains so many essential oils. Access to fresh zest is one of the reasons that so many recipes insist on fresh citrus, as opposed to prepacked juice, when you really want to bring a strong citrus element into a recipe. Buddha’s hand is an unusual citrus fruit in that it really doesn’t have any pulp, so using juice isn’t even an option ....more

Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes

Pineapple upside down cakes are a delicious way to enjoy this sweet, tropical fruit – but they’re not the only way to enjoy pineapples. Overloaded with fresh pineapples from all the tropical drinks I’ve been playing around with lately, I’ve been looking for ways besides fruit salad and upside down cake to use some up. These...more

Salted Caramel Chip Brownies

Chocolate chip technology hasn’t changed that much over the decades, meaning that a chocolate chip cookie that you bake this weekend probably looks almost exactly like the ones that your grandmother baked you back when you were a kid. Recently, however, chocolate chips have begun to change and you can now buy chips in a variety of flavors and chips made from premium chocolates. One of the most impressive is a line of filled chips from Nestle ....more

Every year, I look forward to Girl Scout Cookie season. I was a Girl Scout for a few years growing up and really enjoyed getting out there and selling – as well as eating! – all those delicious cookies ....more

Soup of the Day

On a chilly day, there is nothing that I like to sit down to than a hot bowl of delicious soup paired with some freshly baked bread. It’s a great way to make you forget the cold outside, and there are so many different flavors of soup out there that you never have to eat the same thing twice. I always enjoy homemade soups, of course, but there are quite a few restaurants where I’ve had amazing soups, as well ....more

Baking Bites for Craftsy: Cranberry Orange Cocktails for New Year’s

I’ve made quite a few homemade vodka infusions over the years. They’re an easy way to create a custom vodka flavor that you can use to make your own signature cocktails. They’re also great gifts, when you want to give friends and family something homemade besides a batch of cookies! ...more

White Chocolate Chai Scones

Spicy chai tea is the perfect drink to warm up with on a cold day. Hot tea is always warming, but the ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and the other spices that are commonly found in chai seem to warm you up just as effectively as the actual heat of the tea. Taking those spices and putting them into another form brings those same warming characteristics to another medium – and all this is a lengthy way of saying that these...more
