Bereaved and Blessed

I am a mom, writer and group fitness instructor with three children (two here and one in Heaven) finding joy in the journey after dealing with secondary infertility and loss for five years. I have been married to my college sweetheart since 2000 and we live in Chicago, Illinois with our nine-year old son and three-year old daughter.

I have been blogging at Bereaved and Blessed (formerly Four of a Kind) since 2007. My blog is on Redbook Magazine’s Blogroll: The Best Infertility Blogs, allParenting’s Best Infertility Blogs and Circle of Mom’s Top 25 Moms with Inspiring Families. I am a contributing editor for Exhale Literary Magazine, write weekly for The Today Voice and was a speaker at BlogHer `12 in New York City.

I am a wounded healer who is passionate about helping others learning to cope and find joy when life doesn’t go as we hope, dream and plan (whether due to due to infertility, loss, illness and/or other circumstances). I am an American Council on Exercise (A.C.E.) certified Group Fitness Instructor and teaches classes part-time. I love to exercise, run, and practice yoga, all of which have been very therapeutic for me over the years.

London on My Mind

I lived there the spring semester of my junior year in college, in this house. It was 1996 and an awesome time to be “across the pond.” Everyone who lived at 21 Pembridge Gardens, which was run by the Butler University Study Abroad program, in partnership with the University of Illinois (where I was student), was American. And though there were a number of my fellow U of I classmates also spending the semester in London, I had only met one of them before, we’d actually known each other back in grad school, and so it was a new and exciting experience for me ....more
