Review: Bistro Flamme Bois, Chandigarh

One of my friends and I recently went and ate at Bistro- Flamme Bois in Sector 7, Chandigarh. It was actually by chance that we went there because the original plan was to go somewhere else, but a wrong turn by me made us cross this place. I had heard some good things about Flamme Bois and thought might as well give it a try ....more

Buttermilk Biscuits and Egg Muffins

This post on buttermilk biscuits and homemade egg mcmuffins was supposed to go live on Father’s Day. It even started with this line: “With Father’s Day today, its only apt to post this recipe.” But as you might have noticed, it did not go live on Father’s Day and instead on a Tuesday which I generally reserve for indian food as part of my Garam Masala Tuesdays series. It is never to late to honor the special man in our life- who is there no matter what ....more

GMT: Chicken Biryani

Growing up I was not fond of Biryani, chicken or vegetarian. I don’t know why but the only rice based dish I liked was rajma chawal. Nothing else ....more

Walnut and Pumpkin Seed Bread

This 100% whole wheat bread recipe adapted from BBC Good Food magazine is packed with pumpkin and flax seeds. Recently a one star review on my business page on zomato (an indian website on the same lines as yelp) just reconfirmed my belief that most people these days are reviewing for the sake of appearing cool and just do not have the patience to understand somebody else’s situation. So the whole thing started on the Monday that went by ....more

A review: Katy Sue Design Moulds

As most of you who have been following my page know that few months back I started my home based baking business in India by the name of The Pink CakeBox (yes I know there is a fairly famous Pink Cake Box in the US, and honestly it did not strike me till only after it was too late to change, but we are not related – I wish we were but we are not). Baking and decorating for TPC is...more

GMT: Dahi Ke Kebab

On a recent trip to Delhi, I was served these really delish Dahi ke kebabs (kebabs made from hung curd) and a reminder photograph on one of the food related facebook groups I am a part of gave me the nudge to try making these kebabs at home. These kebabs are vegetarian kebabs and are made from mixing hung curd with onions, garlic, ginger and green chillies. Bread crumbs and roasted gram flour are used to bind the dough together ....more

Chef’s Table at JW Marriot, Chandigarh: A lesson in Tiramisu and lasagna

The Saturday that went, was spent treating my stomach to a cloud like tiramisu, amongst other deliciously prepared food and enjoying the company of some very lovely foodies. JW Marriot and the people behind GourmetChandigarh (instagram: @gourmetchandigarh) organized a Chef’s Table at Oregano, JW Marriot, Chandigarh...more

Savory Vegetable Pie

When my my parents were living in Allahabad, there was a lady my mom told me about who made really scrumptious pies. She was sweet enough to send two savory veg pies for me when I was around. The crust was buttery and rich...more

Peanut Butter Cookies

I know its a Tuesday and I know I haven’t been regular with GMT postings but I am sure the recipe for these peanut butter cookies will make up for the lack of me posting something Indian. Last week was rough- a tragedy happened during the renovation of our house which ended up in a worker’s death. It shook all of us and I can not even imagine what his family must have gone through ....more
