Remembering their favorite things

My step-dad had many fond memories of working in his Lion's Club, so we donate to them each year in his honor.

Father's Day breakfast.

This father's day we will get up early and make steel-cut oatmeal for my husband, with blueberries and brown sugar.  It's a special treat because it takes at least 30 minutes to make, and I'm usually too lazy to do it!  I just hope the kids don't all eat it first...

Away from my Dad

I live in a different state, so will need to be content with a phone call! Dad is 84 now, still plays bluegrass music. volunteers at the animal shelter and is an elder in the church.....quite a guy!

Miles apart

This year my husband will be gone doing military training and my father lives in another state so other than phone calls we won't be doing much...sad to say

We don't do anything fancy.  Maybe go out to lunch or dinner and thats about it.

Dad was a volunteer fireman

Dad was a volunteer fireman for parts of five decades, and I want to get a nice photo of him for the firehouse.  They said they would put it up as a memorial, and this would allow me to get a really nice one of him as a 'father's day gift'!

Father's day

We celebrate by going out to dinner (because he hates Mom's cooking)!

Father's Day

My husband got kind of a raw deal early in his life when his family was dragged out of town resulting from a divorce. Years have gone by and although he communicates regularly with his children, it's just not like raising them. Anyhow we celebrate Fathers Day by pretending it didn't happen and do dinner and stuff. it works!

Father's Day

We let hubby be king for the day.  He gets to pick where we go out to eat and our day's activities. The kids have a ball and hubby loves to be king, lol!

I also always take flowers and a die cast racecar to my Daddy's grave.  I still feel like I need to celebrate the wonderful man I called Daddy even after all these years.

Father's Day

Unfortunately father's day is pushed to the side for my youngest daughter's birthday party.  She was born the Friday before Father's Day in 2004 so we always have her party on Father's Day Sunday.  My husband doesn't mind.  He would rather she have her special day.  Thank you!

He's the boss!

We usually let my husband be the boss for the day. He gets to pick where/what we eat all day, what we do, etc. The kids are extra nice and help him out with whatever he wants and I usually bake his favorite dessert. And, of course, he gets a new pair of boxers every Father's Day. Not sure how that started, but it's what we do.

A Day To Remember

Since my Dad passed away (six years ago), Father's Day has changed for me. Now I like to take time to reflect on what a great Dad I had, when so many others did not. My Dad was an artist and would have loved to have seen the creativity that's being done through on line sources like Snapfish. I think I just might take a picture of my Dad and I and make something that I can keep. Maybe this is the start of a new tradition!

Kids Honor

We're only six years into being parents and really think this is a cute age.  I give control to the little ones.  They have great ideas.  Last year my daughter wanted to make a free massage certificate and my son wanted to let him play video games with him so we went to dinner at Dave & Busters.

BBQ

Having a HUGE BBQ is what i look forward to doing!

Fun Day For Hubby !

On Father's Day in our house, the rule is that Dad gets to do anything that he wants. He usually sleeps in (until noon), and then he wants to eat cheesestaeks for lunch and to play his computer game (which he never gets to do, so it's a real treat for him), and then he usually wants either Ledo's Pizza or Five Guys hamburgers for dinner, and then strawberry ice cream for dessert. He basically uses the day to lie around, because he never really gets a chance to relax at any other time.
