New Blogs On Our Blogroll

Whenever I find a new addition to our blogrolls I always wonder; why did they come here? What are we women looking to find with each other and what can Blogher do for you and your blog?

Are you searching for connection, traffic, or just a place to go looking for likeminded individuals with passion?

For the past few years; Heather at 1912 Bungalow is passionate about remodeling her Bungalow and trying to fit in hobbies.

When we were working on our house, many moons ago, I didn't have time for a life outside of the house, much less a hobby. The 'do you have a hobby' question usually only comes up at work related functions and saying I was considering 'taking up drinking' wasn't going over well. But, why hit the bottle when you can just hit the remote control?

Yet when I read Love and Haterade I think I found the kind of passion that we commonly seek in one way or another.

I worry sometimes that I single-handedly set the women's movement back. Nothing too horrible, of course, I'm not talking Eleanor Roosevelt or Sister Suffragettes or anything. But definitely at least circa Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellion and, on some days, in the Betty Friedan ballpark. I'd say thirty, maybe forty, years.

Her writing is delicious, funny, and sometimes reflective but isn’t that what we want in a blog?

Yet there are days I wake up when all I really want is for the boy I have a crush on to tell me I'm pretty. It's stupid, I know. And vain. And completely ridiculous.

And then there is a passion for life, the kind that we live and breathe for. Alex writes about her decisions and struggles to get pregnant.

I know! I am a little embarrassed even writing it. After all, I was the one who was so gung ho about putting off further reproductive efforts until after the wedding—champagne fountain and all that, you’ll remember. But…But, but, but…

What's your passion?

I love my husband and my son, but now that my daughter is becoming a woman (16), I find that my conversations with her are on that same deep and intimate level that I have with my best friend Michele, and my best friend, sister, Nancy. I saw a link to this and thought, I wonder what women write about and can you communicate on the web in such an "intimate" way as many of us seem to do. I mean, even at work, I get along and enjoy the guys so much, but, whenever any of the women I teach with have big and small life decisions, it's to each other we turn. It's a different conversation altogether, so, a community of women seemed the place where I may feel comfortable actually contributing. That's it for me so far, although, as my issues change, I guess I'll have different reasons.

When I was directed to this site by Dooce I was thrilled to find a slew of well written, articulate, eloquent women bloggers. Coming from (originally, before Blogger) AOL journals, where there was a tremendous sense of community that unfortunately was destroyed with the introduction of advertisement forced on us, I am searching for that sense of comradery and acceptance....again.

I hope to find it here.

I'm not sure what blog pointed me to Blogher, but I know it was when I was out "blog hopping" a few weeks ago. I registered and added my blog to the Life section, because I am always interested in finding others' blogs who share similar interests and directions in life. (or in this case, letting those people find me)

Sometimes it's easier to find other people to relate your own life situations when they're not so "close" to you. It's a perspective thing. And a great way to learn you're special, but not alone!

Someone else originally added my blog to the blogroll, but it landed in a category I didn't think was right for me. I didn't realize I wasn't registered here until I tried to comment one day. So I signed up to be a part of what's happening here and so I could reassign my blog to a category that fits a bit better.

for who I am and my passion is the road on which I am traveling. I am a mom, wife, sister, daughter, caretaker, dog mom, friend, and coworker, among many other roles. In all that...I have a difficult time trying to figure out what I am passionate about and who I am. Life gets so busy at times that I do not have time to reflect on myself very much and that is my goal right now self-reflection. I am sure it will take time to discover who I am inside...and so I travel slow down the road to self discovery.

The kind of question you asked Chantel is a great example of why I keep coming back to blogher. It connects women of all walks of life together to share their opionions and experiences.
I started blogging a while back and have never done anything on more of a personal basis. I found blogher when I was looking around for others that were doing the same thing I was planning on doing and I was lucky enough to find them in the same place!

I'm glad I accidentally asked the question. It reminds me that no matter what the content or the purpose we are seeking; feedback, connection, structure and growth in our lives and our blogs.

You ladies are awesome!!

I've been blogging for years, and have heard about Blogher for awhile. I decided to join because I needed to break free from my small little world and find new reads, positive posts, and in general a new audience. In the same sense find out about myself why I started and why I have continued to write all these years - I'm excited about finding new blogs via Blogher and maybe, just maybe attend the conference next year.

I'm new here and just trying to figure out the blogher world. I blog just about my life. I have no business that I am promoting. However, I take pride in my blog and I am looking to become a better blog writer. I am here to meet other women bloggers who write about their lives. By reading blogs listed here, I can find other women like me. It is better than just randomly trying to find a blog on google. And I like to see what other people write about. I use it as a tool of creativity for myself. Also, when I read a blog entry that I enjoy, I ask myself what I like about it or why it was entertaining for me to read and then I try to use that when writing my own future blog entries.

A good friend of mine and I have been blogging for a while. Both of us are financially free, and it is something we felt needed a fun female voice to educate and encourage other women to take control of their finances and become free!

...about BlogHer last year, before the first conference. Then I got busy with a new job and a new educational track. I found you again through a link on another site that I frequent and decided I definitely wanted to be a part of this site. Not only have I been blogging since before it was called blogging (or before there was software to do blogging) but I also lead workshops for educators to learn more about blogs. I'm also in the process of developing a social software overview workshop and workshops on other social networks: flickr, wikis, podcasts, etc.

I like the conversations that go on here. I know I'm not a lone woman in my geekiness and I know that there are plenty of other women out there who are enjoying this area of online environments as much as I am.

.. And I don't think I have a very good answer. I have way too many passions. I start things on a whim, and life is still very new and disorganized for me. The same is true with me 'on the internet'.

But I think you are also looking for the answer to what we see in our fellow bloghers. I do see lots of passion. I guess that is why I am so attracted to Blogher. The passion in everyone is so immense.

I think we start out blogging for one reason and keep blogging for a completely different reason.

I began blogging for business, but I discovered that blogging would be more suitable for me to make my mark and reflect on my world. To better myself as well. And maybe that is what the passion is in all of us?

Chantel:

Thanks for the great post! I'm new to blogging and blogher. I'm here because 96% of my clients are women. I didn't plan it that way, it just sort of happened. What I see in my business is that there are so many highly educated women who are still being paid less than what they are worth and who are still struggling to get the nerve to get out there and promote themselves. The good news is that I see more opportunities for women than I've ever seen before. I have clients who have quit the corp. rat race and started their own doggie exercise business or made their own short films or created their own t-shirt lines. That is what inspires me to to get out of bed on the tough days. The fact that I get to work with these amazing, FUN, inspiring women.
