When I met Chris Jordan in person for the first time about a week and a half ago---despite having "known" her for a time prior---I couldn't get over how calm and rested she appeared to be. She's a mother to seven kids. Couldn't she have the decency to look a little harried??
But harried is not Chris' style, and that's part of why her personal blog, Notes From The Trenches (formerly The Big Yellow House) enjoys such a huge following. I can't speak for anyone else, but I know that I often turn to Chris' unflappable wit to remind myself that with "only" two kids, I should probably find a way to suck it up.
Recently Chris launched a second blog, In The Trenches of Motherhood, aimed at answering the question she hears over and over: "How do you do it?" And I'll confess that even though I know she hates that question, I found myself asking it; because really, either she's a robot or she knows something the rest of us don't. And if it's the latter I want her to TELL ME. Immediately.
This week Chris is tackling vacationing with kids and I'm really looking forward to the whole series. The prospect of actually managing to have fun on a trip with my kids is one that is still slightly foreign to me, in my Type-A existence. I can't wait to learn from Chris' wisdom and perhaps become a little more unflappable, myself.
