If you haven't heard of a drink called Sahlep, read on, you may discover foods that are new to you.
One of the things I love most about reading food blogs is finding new foods I haven't heard of before. Here are a few recent discoveries:
Anna of Morsels and Musings writes about a Turkish winter drink called Sahlep, Salep or Sahlab.
We learn about Roosamanna, a type of Estonian pudding made of semolina and fruit, from Pille of Nami-Nami.
If you don't know what Compound Butters are, Heidi of 101 Cookbooks gives some great examples.
Haalo from Cook (almost) Anything At Least Once tells us about a type of cheese called scrubbed brie.
The Chocolate Lady from In Mol Araan cooks some Napa Cabbage and Hemp Seeds.
A Mediterranean herb called Samphire is used in salad by Isil of Veggie Way.
Ilva of Lucullian Delights talks about Friggitelli.
Gising Gising is an interesting dish created by JMom of In Our Kitchen.
And finally, two very interesting uses for ordinary herbs. Lex Culinaria spotlights a very unique use of lemon basil. Along the same lines, Michelle of Je Mange la Ville opts for peaches and thyme.
Contributing editor Kalyn Denny loves to find out about new food ingredients and blog about them at Kalyn's Kitchen.
