A few months ago I was reading Carolonline on the digital divide, on President Bachelet, and other news articles.

Carol (or Crisosto) said, back then:

I am who I am. Capable of travelling roads that others abandon. Of brilliant, sparky conversation, terribly exaggerated. It's my trademark. I can't, nor do I want to, hide who I am or how I feel. Changing, ethereal, multifaceted, restless, empathetic, and sensitive but overall, honest. These changes of heart shed light on my actions.

That seemed to promise a personal blog. But for months many of her posts were re-postings of news articles. So, if you want to keep up on Chilean news from a socialist woman's perspective, Carol's blog is quite useful as a filter.

Now I'm returning to her blog, which has gone through some changes. Her description got longer since I last read it, and I loved this added line, "Se me tacha como polémica y rupturista... Cuando escribo manifiesto abiertamente lo que creo con mis defectos y virtudes. " (They accuse me of being a polemicist, and divisive.... when I write I manifest openly what I believe, with my defects and virtues.) Believe me, I can identify with this, along with most political bloggers, right, left, or center, on this planet!

Lately Carol's blog has returned to a mix of political and personal, with music and photos. I especially liked her entry Liberacion interior proceso de mi vida, Internal liberation process of my life.

I'm a being motivated by ideals, desires, aspirations.

And there's little goals that make progress for us, but all beings have a grand ideal that's the strongest, that gives meaning to the other smaller goals and ambitions we set out to achieve in life: and whoever lacks that grand ideal dies in a way. And I don't want to die in the midst of life or even worse be a woman paralyzed from fear.

Strong words from Carol. She has set out to mix up the personal and political very deliberately. I like what she says about ideals helping her to combat fear.

There is more from Carol at Desclasificada, most lately a news article about discrimination and the Mapuche people of Chile. I am looking forward to reading this blog too... coincidentally I was just translating a poem by Elvira Hernández that has Mapuche words in it, and I need to read some Mapuche history, past and present, as background for the translation. Carol's news stories will be a helpful starting point for me.

Contributing Editor Liz Henry also blogs at Composite and Badgermama.
