[img_assist|fid=1555|thumb=1|alt=emmyawards]The first Emmy Awards were held on January 25, 1949, at the Hollywood Athletic Club and, since then, has a rocky history of tension in television (namely, left vs. right coast) and is still going through its fair share of growing pains.
Today, it gives us (television viewers and fans) a chance to look into the hottest fashion trends, as some of our favorite television actors attempt to put their best-dressed foot forward, and blog about the 58th Emmy awards - who rocked the red carpet?
I happen to agree with Second City Style's entry, as their blogging about Heidi Klum (would it kill her to kiss Project Runway losers, goodbye...in English!?!) made me squirt coffee through my nose:

"Another reason to hate Heidi Klum...even pregnant she looks amazing."[Editor's Note: BITCH!]
She's also Glam's Emmys Best Dressed - Red haute! Heidi Klum sizzles in this one-shoulder, cherry red, toga-style Michael Kors gown. She even shows off a little leg, thanks to the high slit.
Red is hot -- damn you, my pretties...and your good little genes, too...check out the hot mommas featured on Emmy Awards Maternity Style -- but, the color purple proves to be a dominant feature at this year's Emmys:

via Fashion Cult - Along with white and red, purple was common on the carpet. Unfortunately, purple didn't make as great of a showing.[Editor's Note: Referring to Ellen Pompeo's impression of Lillian Munster and Cheryl Hines' blinged-back look...ouch! Though, my pick for "Emmys Best Dressed" pulls it off...wearing purple, I mean.]
Alfre Woodard was actually a spot of redemption for the purple people. Perhaps it's because the hue is more subtle.
The rest of the buzz on the web is that Emmy fashion (overall) left most red carpet fashionistas like bGlam feeling...well...a lot like my hair with all this humidity, lately...flat and a little dull:

I was somewhat disappointed with the red carpet fashion at the Emmys this year. Not one lady's ensemble truly had the wow-factor for me. Full length glamour gowns were the key trend. Here's a few of my fashion hits and misses! Eva Longoria was my favourite overall - the best of an average bunch. Her bright white dress was unique and slightly quirky, showing off her tiny waist and working perfectly with her olive skin tone. Eva's choice of minimal accessories and classy understated shoes was spot on...her dress did all the talking.
I agree -- keeping it simple and letting the beautiful dress speak for itself is a fashion rule that's held up for decades -- but, the top Emmy fashion this year is...plunging necklines, of course!
"If you didn't have some bodacious ta-ta's to display out on the red carpet this year, then you were SOL, my friend."

And last but not least, onto the bling - the National Jeweler reports Emmy jewelery gets colorful:

A-listers like Sandra Oh, Cheryl Hines and Heidi Klum all donned yellow gold jewelry, either worn alone or mixed with pieces and elements in white gold or platinum. Actresses accessorizing with gemstones included Tina Fey, Helen Mirren and Stockard Channing.(Pictured left Helen Mirren, after tripping and nearly falling on her way to accepting her Emmy ( for Elizabeth I) with one of the best lines of the night, "I was afraid I was going to go tits over ass")

Cuff bracelets, warm golds and oversized rings were big at the Emmys - BlogHers can find affordable elegance and accessorize some of these (and other) red carpet trends at Emitiations.com:
