Personal Finance - Found a Great New Site: CreditFYI

I'm finding myself increasingly obsessed with watching CNN and reading post after post on financial and credit matters.  In fact as I write this post, I realize CNN has replaced my Ipod as back ground "music".

Baby Steps: Calming the social anxiety

Would it be a bad thing to tell you that I didn't have a chance to do my mid-BlogHer Reach Out post? Would you understand if I told you that I had so much fun meeting new friends and see some of the city that I wasn't sitting at my computer very often?

I thought you may be understanding.

Woman's Day, Power Day, Lovely Day - Blogher Reach Out Tour - Boston

A woman's DAAAYYYY!!!! (Woman's Day, Power, Day, Lovely Day...think of the Bill Withers' song - "Lovely Day" as the theme music for this entry.)

How privileged was I to attend the BlogHer Reach Out Tour in Boston   on October 11?
Incredibly privileged.  I received:

Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2008: The Best of the Worst Marketing

Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2008: The Best of the Worst Marketing

I loathe Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Don't get me wrong - the idea of promoting breast health is fantastic. I am in a high risk category for breast cancer. When she was 33 years old, my mother noticed pus oozing out of her left nipple. She immediately went to the doctor, and a biopsy indicated that it was breast cancer. With a five year old and an 10 month old at home, my mom was rushed into surgery for a radical mastectomy. This saved her life, and she has been cancer-free for almost thirty years now. I want all women to have the same success rate as my mom, but what October has turned into is a free-for-all profit center for corporations that exploit women's fears and often even sell products that contain cancer causing chemicals.

Same Old Used To Be

Same Old Used To Be

When I started my new job-share last month, I brought in one personal item: an 8" by 10" color photo of my mother and my granddaughter. My mother was in the last year of her life and much of the person she had been was slumbering deep inside, accessible only in her dreams. She looks a little stark but very present in the picture. Pippa, her great-granddaughter, delighted Mother, whether she stood beside her with a flower, as in the picture, or climbed up on her lap with a book to be read or ran up on her baby legs to share her piece of black-olive studded pizza.

Help Us Support Breast Cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we see pink
everywhere. Everywhere we turn there is a simple way to help support
the fight against breast cancer. Whether we go into a store and make a
pink purchase, make a donation, join a walk, or purchase an item from
somewhere where a percentage of proceeds goes towards breast cancer
awareness, we cannot deny that it is easy to help find a cure.

The Shift of the Mommyblogger

The Shift of the Mommyblogger

There's change in the air for the first wave of mommybloggers.  They don't complain about their kids much anymore. In fact, they don't write about their kids as much as they used to.  Have they lost interest?  Lost their edge?  Or are their kids just old enough to read?

Interesting night, a walk-out of a morning

Interesting night, a walk-out of a morning

Good morning! So, now today is the day my new eating routine starts and my recovery begins... I am pretty excited for it, actually. And to kick off the start- a guy left my room this morning. He came over last night, and while I knew he was drunk, I didn't really care. He is georgeous, and I hven't been with someone in a long time. I kind of just wanted to fool around, and say adios in the morning. I got what I wanted, and now I am ready to start my day! Fabulous!

I am not hungry this morning, so I may just grab a tea from Starbucks.

Happy Blogging!
