Shop for the Cure

Shop for the Cure

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month; you can work to reduce your risk by eating right, exercising regularly, and having a mammogram.  You can also help fund a cure by shopping for products that support breast cancer research.  Here are five picks; some portion of the sale price of each goes to the Susan G. Komen foundation and other parner organizations working to end breast cancer.

Violent Mother, Saintly Son

Violent Mother, Saintly Son

The roles assigned to mother and son in Seth Michelson's Fragments
trouble me. He gives us a saintly son who clings to his mother's legs
"even when kicked and cursed and kicked . . . knowing only to forgive"
and a terribly violent mother who screams to a degree unwarranted by
the child's (probably) accidental dropping of a gravy boat and then
kicks him when she is really raging against something else, some idea
of mortality and Malthusian evolution that the poet evokes (not

How do you make tough decisions??

All of us have to make tough decisions one time or the other in our life. These are the ones that could change your life forever. Sometimes these decisions can either make you happy or the ones you love. And those are by far the toughest ones to make.

The Not-So-New Competitve Sport

Are You An Innerpreneur?

Where the Word ‘Innerpreneur’ Came From

I didn’t make it up.

The book, Karma Queens, Geek Gods and Innerprenuers, by Ron Rentel, was the first, to my knowledge, to use and define the term innerpreneur. The book is an exploration of the nine most interesting consumer types evolving today.

Always Grandma

Does it ever seem that there is too much going on and yet there isn't enough to keep all the kids busy at the same time?  It seems with 3 kids there is something daily for at least one of them and I can't keep up. I have to text my daughter daily to check on what is happening after school even though I have everything written on the calender.  Well I say everything but something changes and then I'm unsure so then I text for the final answer.  But then one child is busier than another on any given day.

How We Will Heal Over As A Nation?

The outpouring of racially aroused rhetoric during this week has made me feel very uncomfortable with the turn of events regarding the election.

I am not politically naive by a long shot. I know that American politics has a history of being dirty and lowdown. We have been conditioned to not only expect this type of interaction, we often expect our respective camps to be actively engaged in this type of behavior.
