Nostalgia

Do you ever get that 'sentimental feeling'?  In the last few months, I have definitely had some fond memories of good times past.

1980sMy daughter went away to church camp (min-camp) this summer.  One day at camp, her cabin decided to dress up like they were 80's ladies.  They were all 8 and 9 year olds being led by their (maybe) 18-yr-old cabin counselor.  They put their hair in pony-tails on the side of their heads.  They wore one shoulder of their shirts off the shoulder.  They rolled up the cuffs of their jeans and tucked their t-shirts into their sweatpants.  It was SO funny.

Nobody had 100 bangle bracelets to share or huge dangling earrings to wear or the look would have been totally complete.  She told me about it and I laughed with her.  She thought it was hilarious that we dressed like that!

That brought up the whole issue of "The 80's" with my family.  They wanted to watch a movie about the 80's.  I picked Back to the Future.  Now, please do NOT go crazy on me about my terrible choice of a movie for children to watch.  MacGyver was a little to 'old' and voilent for them, and I couldn't find Adventures in Babysitting or any of the episodes of The Facts of Life.  So, we watched Back to the Future.  They loved it (and they don't know any of the 3 or 4 'bad words' used in the movie so they didn't have a clue... and we fast-forwarded through the scene with Biff and Lorraine in the car at the dance).
