I have been dwelling on normal lately. I keep thinking of all the ways I’m not “normal”. Here is a list of the not normal things about me as a 50 year old woman that pop in my head:
- I’m asexual
- I’m lesbian
- I have no children.
- I am single.
- I don’t own a dress
- I don’t like to cook.
- I’m a software engineer.
- I like to watch golf on TV.
- It doesn't phase me to go without a shower for three days in a row.
- I have no interest in ever having a manicure or pedicure.
- I laughed out loud after my first sentence when I realized it was a satellite software funny!
As I let this list ran through my head, I had this little tiny epiphany. I thought to myself that I bet that everyone on Blogher could make a similar list. A list of all the ways they feel not normal. And I began to wonder if anyone is really normal and what is the use of dwelling on it. So if you dare to share, tell me your list of not normal. Perhaps I'll find out that being normal is not the norm!
And BTW, IMHO, in the satellite world dwelling on normal is plain old silly.
