To not sweat the small stuff...

“Don’t sweat the small stuff.” This is inarguably great advice. And, I think, often easier said than done.

To not sweat the small stuff, I think you need to know yourself, know what’s most important to you, and do it your way. Simply stated – I think so. And, again, these are ALL endeavors that may NOT, at times, seem easy.

I recently got my copy of “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff for Moms” and was delighted to clearly see the author, Kristin Carlson, advocate – throughout the book – the benefits of moms feeling empowered to do the mom-thing their own unique way. In Chapter Four — Empowered “Mom” — she writes, “Gathering information and educating yourself is critical to good decision-making. But no professional degree or years of personal experience is ultimately more important than your own intuition.” I love that she took that stand. It doesn’t matter how many people say a choice is “right” for someone. If it doesn’t feel “right” for her, then it’s not the right choice…

The themes of empowering, nourishing, and trusting yourself are prevelant throughout the book.

Chapters expounding on these themes include: There’s No Such Thing as a “Perfect” Mom, Nourishing Your Spirit First, Empowered “Mom,” Building Your Family Team, Surround Yourself with Great Mothers, Mom Takes a Time-Out!, Ask the Question: Why Do We Do It This Way?, Personal Growth Can Be Fun!, Powered with Your Passion, Mother Knows Best, Guilt-Free Working Mom, Make Peace with the Fact That This Is the Best You Can Do, emotional Intelligence Is Important, Breathe and Get Your Golden Pause, You’ll Know When You Know, Healthy Mom-Radiant Mom, Stepping Out to Step Back In, and You Are Enough as You Are.

Interspersed with these themes are practical advice, light-hearted stories, and perspective-shifting insights.
