Oatmeal Raisin Chocolate Chip Cookies

Once upon a time I had the most amazing job. I worked admin for a family owned turf farm. I had THE most wonderful boss and her family was an absolute hoot to work with. Not only did I work admin managing accounts, but I also helped make lunches for the guys in the field. These were not sandwiches in a bag type of lunches either, keep in mind. My husband has this job to thank for all of the ‘man food’ I am able to cook up for him. I also ended up doing a lot of baking. Crisps, cakes, cookies… whatever the guys wanted that day. Did I mention this was the most amazing job?

Eventually it came time for me to move away and get married. My boss gave me an old cookbook of hers, Nestle: Best-Loved Cookies. She knew I would put it to good use. And I have. If you’re craving a moist and chewy oatmeal raisin cookie with chocolate chips… this one is a winner. I’ve made a few adaptations to the original recipe “Milk Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies”.

1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup quick oats
1 cup raisins

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. In a large mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
3. In a separate bowl beat together butter, sugars, vanilla, and egg.
4. Gradually add flour mixture and milk.
5. Stir in chocolate chips, quick oats, and raisins.
6. Drop onto greased baking sheets and bake for 10-14 mins.
Makes 2 dozen.

Enjoy! Comment if you make them and let me know what you think!
