So here I am "On The Edge of".....well, not seventeen......on the edge of 40. This whole last year I have been an absolute wreck. Feeling like I should be further along in my life than I am. Measuring my success to a standard that I am not sure is really even attainable....at least not in a small, rural community in Minnesota. Now that I am slowly overcoming the shock of turning "40"...I want to do something. I am not going to waste another minute fretting over this. Time to move on and do something.........but what? I don't know.
I am a radio announcer at the local radio station and I am really pretty good at what I do. I can write and produce darn good ads, have a smooth, warm voice, extremely personable and curtious and professional. I usually come up with killer ideas for commericials, liners, special events, promotions and also of course, for my show. I love great customer service and giving it to others. I love what I do and I take my work personally because I put myself into it. The problem: There is no money in radio!~ Ha!~ Since there is no money in radio and I would like to stay working in radio I need to be able to find something else that will allow me to utilize my personality and creativity while at the same time make some money. Any suggestions or advice at this time would be more than welcomed by myself, my husband and my three sons.
Also you should know that I went to school for art and I can draw and paint. Really the talent is there but I have never been very good at creating the opportunity to advance.
I am looking at maybe trying to do something from home and saw the interview with the woman who started BLOGher.com on Fox news. That's why I am here. Searching for advice on what to do next? I am ready and I am willing to do whatever it takes to see what opportunities are around the corner.
