The One with Diamonds

DSC_8281   I've always loved sapphires, but I really do think diamonds are a girl's best friend. When Joe first gave me my engagement ring, I couldn't take my eyes off of it. I was a serious hazard while driving. It's sparkly and beautiful and so special because it was his grandmother's. I hope a daughter or granddaughter of mine will wear it someday. But what I love most about this diamond is what is stands for - my marriage. And I think marriage is like sort of like a diamond. It's one of the toughest substances known to man, but at the same time, it's something to be treasured. Marriages are made to stand a lot of pressure, to be thrown into fires and refined. But they also need polishing, and should be well-protected. Much like the care of diamonds, a marriage reflects what's put into it. You can tell if it's not cared for, if it's left forgotten. A marriage won't take care of itself, it has to be cared for and nurtured. My engagement ring is a constant reminder of that - that I've chosen a marriage to this man , and I have to treasure it and help it stay beautiful. And I must say, the rewards are dazzling.
