One Meal, Ten Aphrodisiacs, One Great Night!

Recently while planning a special weekend away, I found myself searching the web for aphrodisiac foods. I came across an article that listed asparagus in the top ten, apparently because it is a great source of potassium, fiber, vitamin BG, thiamin and folic acid. That’s all well and good, but don’t we all know how asparagus affects the taste and smell of certain bodily fluids? Aphrodisiac? Not in my book!
I decided to make my menu using foods that have a direct effect on arousal and are also tasty, sexy to look at, eat and serve. LikeFineWine believes great sex comes from the head, the heart and the body. Sexy foods feed all three.
Before we get to food, let’s get a plug in for red wine! Red wine is full of the antioxidant resveratrol which boosts blood flow and improves circulation. Plus, red wine is a beautiful, deep sexy color, lends itself to slow relaxed sipping, and is wonderful to dribble on your lover’s body. Ask your man to taste you with a mouth full of red wine and then return the favor.
Here in order of service, are the sexiest foods on earth! <ol start="1"> <li> Oysters. Oysters are full of zinc, which ramps up testosterone! Oysters are a true aphrodisiac. Try them on the half shell with a glass of cold champagne as an appetizer.</li> <li> Basil. Basil’s natural aroma is stimulating to the palate, to circulation and to man. In ancient times, women dusted their breasts with powdered basil. Make a few fresh bruschetta to go with your oysters and break out a good red wine.</li> <li> Almonds. Almonds are another ancient aphrodisiac, thought to arouse women’s passions. Almonds have high doses of vitamin E. magnesium and fiber. Almonds lend themselves to both sweet and savory dishes, but why not just have a dish of roasted, salted almonds along with a glass of wine?</li> <li>Hot Chiles. Hot Chiles are rich in capasacin which increases circulation and stimulates nerve endings. Turkey breast tenderloins with citrus chili glaze are a light and spicy meal to get you both going.</li> <li>Avocado. Avocados are chock full of vitamin E and help your body churn out testosterone, estrogen and progesterone. These hormones circulate in your bloodstream and stimulate vaginal lubrication and clitoral swelling. Drizzle sliced avocados and peeled and sectioned grapefruit with a light Dijon vinaigrette to serve with your turkey tenderloins.</li> <li> Garlic. While garlic has its obvious drawbacks (think asparagus!) its full of allicin, another chemical that increases blood flow. Roasting garlic sweetens the flavor and odor. Roast several cloves with olive oil and add to mashed potatoes to serve with dinner.</li> <li> Chocolate. The cocoa in chocolate contains phenylethylamine, which releases dopamine in the pleasure centers of the brain and peaks during orgasm. This same chemical induces feelings of excitement and attraction. Shave some dark chocolate to serve over dessert.</li> <li>Bananas.
