"One for the Money" Stephanie Plum Movie Trailer!

Lionsgate has released the first official trailer for One for the Money, the film based on the first book in the Janet Evanovitch's Stephanie Plum and starring Katherine Heigl.

I have to confess I haven't read the books. They've been on my TBR list for years. I do hate to read a book after the movie's come out so maybe it will give me a push in the right reading direction. Because I think the trailer = total fun.

What do you think of the trailer -- will you be going to see it? What do you think of the casting?

Does anyone know what song plays in the trailer?

I have read these books and love them. They are the books that have me laughing out loud in public places and not caring at all if passer-bys think I've gone mad. However, I am totally upset over the casting. They didn't get ANY of the characters right! Except maybe Lula. I'll still see the movie, but I'm not happy about the casting at all.

I'm not sure about who they picked as Morelli because I have a picture in my mind of what Morelli looks like and the guy that they cast looks absolutely nothing like him. I'm somewhat ambivalent about seeing this, because Hollywood doesn't have a very good track record with adapting books to film. On the one hand, if it's pretty faithful to the book and they keep the humor in the books, then I want to support it so they keep making movies that are faithful to the books. But on the other hand, I don't want to support something that is crap, either.

OMG! Three words here, Sassymonkey, "I can't wait!" Thank you for the preview. I wasn't sure about Ms. Heigl being able to pull off playing Stephanie Plum, but she looks perfect for the part!

This series has had a long history of "who should play what character" including a list posted on the authors website. Although these actors aren't any of the popular faves - it has taken a LONG time to get to this point! Some of the popular faves aren't even in the right age bracket anymore. Regardless, the trailer looks interesting and I will most likely go see the movie just to see if they did a good job. Janet Evanovich's characters are hilarious, sexy, and perfectly (in)secure in their imperfect world. Hopefully some Hollywood screenwriter doesn't screw that up!

I live in Jersey and I am a total book snob. I looked down my nose at these books for years until someone told me they were funny. I needed a laugh at the time and I figured, how bad could it be?

I was so hooked I couldn't read them fast enough!! They are silly and funny and sexy and improbable but they work as complete mindless entertainment. And they are not badly written, so that helps.

I didn't know a movie was coming out either and I also had different pictures in my head of the characters. But the trailer looks like the books read - everyone is in it for a fun ride.

ShoreBookworm Heh! I know many book snobs that have found themselves getting totally wrapped up in series that they never thought they would. (And I've been known to forgive a less than well read book if it's entertaining enough.)

chgolady It really did take a long time, didn't it?

The books are hilarious. I almost have trouble believing the movie can be as funny.

Nordette Adams Would it need to be *as* funny for it to be a success?

I have read each one and while Katherine Hiegle isn't who I pictured, I am still excited about the movie!

Breinash She did not seem to be a popular choice when it was announced.

It's a fun book series! I had no idea they were making it into a movie...but makes sense!

TexasRhea It was announced just about a year ago, I think.

I saw the trailer. They made Katherine Heigel look the part, surprisingly. I was disappointed with the casting of Ranger--he seemed totally wrong. My HUGE concern is the January release date. Nothing good is EVER released in January. It's where movies go to die a quick death.

Oh, I wish it was a series! Knowing who they've cast as Stephanie I think I won't be able to go to the movie.

I have a hard time with the cast. I have who I want to play the roles cast in my mind and reconciling it with the actual film is always hard for me. I just hope they really followed the book. I like my movies to follow the book plot faithfully. But yes, I'm looking forward to the movie!

I'm surprised it's taken this long for one of her books to be made into a film! - Denise
