One Really Big Sock

I've mentioned that I wanted to make a Christmas stocking for the baby, and I thought I had enough progress to show you guys what I have done so far.  I chose the Snow Bird Stocking, and I'm making it with Cascade 220 Superwash Sport in Really Red, White, and Army Green.  I'm so happy with the colors -- I think they're absolutely perfect for Christmas.  The yarn is lovely to knit with, but it is incredibly slippery, so it likes to come a bit unwound.

Here are some shots from when I was finished with the leg of the stocking.  I've now turned the heel and am well on my way through the foot.  Things are going pretty quickly, especially given the massive size of this thing, although there is quite a bit of duplicate stitching in my future.

I hope she likes it!  (I like it enough to keep it for myself if she doesn't, though I suspect my husband would not like having to fill it for me!)
I bought some yarn over the weekend to make her a pair of teensy thrummed mittens, so I hope I get to work on those this weekend.  I'm excited to learn thrumming, and teensy thumbless mittens are just the cutest.
