Online Dating Horror Story #3: Thunder and Lightning
By blogqueendiane on July 05, 2014
Years ago, I met a man from an online dating site at a fast-food restaurant for a Coke. It turned out to be me listening to an hour-and-a-half monologue. (That happens a lot and I’m too polite — or dumb — to just get up and leave. Guess I feel sorry for the guys, even though it is incredibly self-centered and rude.)
Eventually, the sky outside got very dark and it started to rain and thunder and lightning. That was my excuse to leave, so I stood and announced I had to go.
Mr. Talkative walked me out to the car (OK) BUT after I opened the driver’s door with the intention of getting in and quickly driving away, he stretched his arm across the top of the open door and leaned against it, preventing me from closing it. It was creepy. He continued his monologue as the lightning crackled and lit up the sky all around us! As the rain fell into the driver’s seat of my car — and on me – this idiot continued to talk. ( I fantasized about lightning striking him … and about peeling out and dragging him across the parking lot.)
Ever polite, though, I waited til he finally took a breath and then quickly shut and locked the door, and drove away forever…
