Online Photography Classes, Presented by Sugar Snap Photography!

I'm a mom of 3.  I am busy.  I have little to no time to do anything but throw my hair in a pony tail and scarf down a poptart (which I totally just did).

But, as mothers (and fathers:), we have a job.  Yes, yes... the obvious, parenting your children, teaching them right from wrong, and loving the bunches out of them.  But another job, that is so, so very important and often gets slipped through the cracks, is preserving our kids in the form of pictures... in their natural, messy, beautiful kid-like state.

And you can do this!  Minus red eyes, blurry faces and cut off limbs ;)

I have too many friends and family members who have invested in a nice camera but have yet ventured into the world of REAL, manual photography.  "Ashley, I just spent 800 bucks on this camera... now what do I do with it?"

Here's your answer!

I'm offering a 28 day photography e-course for $45.00:   "Know Your Camera... and USE IT!"

This will be the first of (what hopefully will be) a series of classes ranging from the first session, "Know Your Camera...and USE IT" to more in depth classes such as post processing, and specifically children's photography.

This is my first time doing something like this, so I'm going to start small, offering 5 spots to the first 5 people that email me. {  ashleymckenney07@gmail.com  }

Here's a look at what this first course "Know Your Camera...and USE IT!" will focus on:

  • basic settings.  We will physically go over your camera body in  simple "non-camera" terminology way... learning about the different modes to shoot in, setting your focus points, white balance, and other easy, but necessary things to know about your camera.
  • Aperture.  Want to blow out your background?  Get that "blurry" look?  This is where its at.
  • ISO... what is this?  What do you do with it?  How does it effect your pictures?
  • Shutter speed.  How does this work with aperture?  How do you know what your SS should be set at?
  • USING your camera on a daily basis to capture every day moments, in extraordinary ways.

So how does this work, exactly?

I am opening a private blog (access available only to me, and you 5 participants).  I will publish one blog post per day (your daily lesson :), focusing  on different areas of your camera and settings.  My goal for you (and your goal for yourselves ;) should be to shoot in full manual mode by the end of the 28 blog posts.

  • Along with the private blog, we'll also be working on a flickr group where we'll be sharing our images.
  • With each blog post, will come a new photo prompt. Your "assignment" will be to capture a photo and share it on our group. I'll excitedly look at each and every photo submitted and give constructive criticism and of course, praise. :) This will expand your portfolio as well as stretch your creativity.

Sound informative?  Fun?  Want to sign up?

    Cool!

    • First, make sure you own an SLR camera.  Unfortunately, I'm only accepting "students" with an SLR... sorry :*(  Maybe in the future I'll do a point and shoot class... but this is strictly an SLR class.
    • Second, email me at ashleymckenney07@gmail.com to claim your spot.  (as I said, the first 5 to email me get it...I'm too hesitant to take on more than that ;)
    • Third, get out that camera and dust it off... because you've got blog posts and homework assignments coming your way!  :)

Get ready to soar with your camera! :)
