Open Adoption Book Tour Choice Announced

I'm a bit late in announcing this here because I've been rather busy. The good news is that the book has been chosen and sign ups are live! The bad news is that I shorted you out of a week of reading. I apologize.

The book for the second Open Adoption Book Tour is Lifegivers by James L Gritter. I have read this book three times all ready and will be giving it a reread for this book tour. I love this book as much as you can love a book that explains things about yourself that you don't really want to know or care to think about. This book focuses on the birth parent experience in open adoption. It has some heavy subjects like regret (which I assure you isn't as negative a word as everyone wants it to be) and the birth parent, adoptive parent power struggle.

I won't tell you too much more other than the first time I read this book, I wasn't ready. The second time, I was finally ready to learn about myself, my role in the adoption itself and what my role was to be for the duration of our open adoption. It helped me make sense of what I was supposed to be doing and that what I was feeling wasn't abnormal. Adoptive parents can gain a lot of insight into their child's birth parents with answers to questions like, "Why are they avoiding contact?" This book is The One that I always tout to families dealing with complicated open adoption relationships.

SO! Sign up by May 7th and get involved in this book tour. I'll be participating on both The Chronicles of Munchkin Land and!
