Oscar Night in Celebrity Tweets: The Award Goes To...

BlogHer Original Post

Nostalgia, Grecian dresses, and the French reigned over last night's 84th Annual Academy Awards at the Hollywood and Highland Center -- in case you missed Billy Crystal's crack, Kodak could no longer afford to keep their name on the famous theater...no, seriously -- but despite nipple slips, blackface, and uncensored foreign expletives, the drama leading up to the telecast was virtually undetectable on the show itself as Hollywood paid homage to its rich history.

Like the Grammys and Globes before them, The Oscars pulled in a record number of tweets last night, sweeping the trending topics category, and I personally found the twitterstream more engaging than the show, so much so that I had to rewind a couple of times to see what I'd missed on the telecast. So in that spirit, it is with great pride that I present to you, the First Annual Twitter Academy Awards. (I think that's true. I Googled it.)

Did you watch along on Twitter? Who did I overlook this year?
