Our vacation to Ludington, Michigan

Looking for a relaxing vacation on the beautiful sand of Lake Michigan? Try visiting Ludington, Michigan which has miles of beaches along Lake Michigan and Hamlin Lake with a quaint small-town atmosphere. My husband has fond memories of Ludington because he used to come here as a teenager to visit his grandparents.
Stearns Park - We spent our beach time at Stearns Park, which has free parking, a playground, a skate park, concessions, mini golf, paddle board rentals and shuffleboard. Next to the parking lot is a grassy park with lots of picnic tables so you can eat your picnic lunch there without it getting all sandy. My boys loved playing for hours in the sand (especially since the water was only 59 degrees that day!).
Amber Elk Ranch - This ranch provides a unique animal experience that everyone will enjoy! Amber Elk Ranch is the home of world-class bull elk on 130 acres. Your tour guide will ride the tractor wagon around and make stops for you to feed the elk, which are very friendly but quite large! They also have a petting zoo with chickens, pigs and more. The gift shop is worth seeing as well since they sell elk antlers and unique items like hand-carved sling shots (which my son picked out).
Town Events - Check out their calendar of events for when you visit. In just the 3 days we were there, they showed a movie in the town park and had a street party with food trucks and bounce houses.
House of Flavors - My husband could not stop talking about this place and insisted that we eat here - multiple times. He used to come here with his grandparents and eat the "Original Pig's Dinner" which is like a huge banana split. He and our oldest son decided to order the "Original Pig's Dinner" - my husband finished it, my son could not. Even still, they each got a souvenir pin saying that they ate the Pig Dinner. My youngest son got the Hot Fudge Brownie, which was HUGE but amazing. I also highly recommend the flavor "Bear Claw" which is dark chocolate, caramel and chocolate-covered cashews.
I got this chocolate molten cake which was very yummy.
The House of Flavors also serves lunch and dinner food which we enjoyed as well.
Ron's Place (formerly the Angry Tomato) - This small pizza place features New York Style Pizza and sells it by the slice. You can dine inside or outside. I thought the pizza was great - thin crust which was slightly crispy.
Ludington has a lot to offer families, including a Children's Museum, Historic White Pine Village and fishing along the pier. We weren't able to do these things because we were only there for a few days, but you could have a great vacation here and have plenty to do!
