Own Your Beauty is a groundbreaking, year-long movement bringing women together to change the conversation about what beauty means. Our mission: to encourage and remind grown women that it is never too late to learn to love one's self and influence the lives of those around us - our mothers, friends, children, neighbors. We can shift our minds and hearts and change the path we follow in the pursuit of authentic beauty.

In our current world of arty photo angles and red-hot Twitter avatars, it's increasingly difficult to find images of real women looking ... real. Maybe it's our Photoshop-happy media culture. Maybe it's our fear of showing what we view as our flaws. Maybe it's that we, as women -- wives, partners, mothers, friends, photographers -- are so often behind the camera instead of in front of it. But for us, as we attempt to illustrate the raw and gripping posts of our Own Your Beauty initiative, it's ... frustrating. Where are all the photos of real women?

We know they're out there, buried in your Flickr streams, stored on your hard drives and cell phones. And we want to highlight them as part of BlogHer.com's Own Your Beauty. In order to show off our community in all its authentic marvel, we need your photographs.

We've created the BlogHer Own Your Beauty Flickr group, and we invite you and all of your family and friends -- bloggers or nonbloggers -- to upload your favorite photos in which you see in yourself ... beauty.

Maybe you like the way the light hits your hair.

What a great idea! I've been taking part in a flickr self portrait group (started for sellers on Etsy so they could keep in touch) for a number of years now - it's amazing how inventive you can be, and also quite revealing to see what you like about you through inspecting the pics. I've also started blogging it the resulting pics as an excuse to be even more introspective about my life :)

added mine which is the first photo i'm truly happy with in years, and it was oddly enough a selfportrait taken in the bathroom at work :)

What a great concept. Celebrate women of all shapes and sizes in all our natural beauty. Aren't we just amazing.

I added a funny face photo!

Hi Lynn! Miss seeing your smiling face!!!
It's amazing how simply seeing a photo of someone we like, makes us smile?

We really are simple creatures at heart!

I love this idea, since I'm abysmal at photoshop. Instead I just keep taking pictures until I'm happy with one (which often means I'm only happy with one or two a year since I'm the family's primary photographer and am rarely on the other side of the lens.)

I am including my profile photo, which I was so happy with, it's uploaded to the group. Thanks for doing this!

I write on Suburban (In)sanity ( http://beckersmith.typepad.com/my_weblog/ ). I have two kids, two cats, a dog, a husband and a minivan. I live in the suburbs now and try to stay sane. Some days, I succeed.

Please bear with me, as I am one of the more technically challenged on the editorial team. Will be fixed shortly -- in the meantime, click down below in the error message to get to the group or just go direct: http://www.flickr.com/groups/blogherownyourbeauty/
