Packing for a Work Trip
By Alex S on June 26, 2014
I’m on my way to Boston for a two-day meeting and I’m thrilled because it’s my first ever work trip. I’ll also be staying an extra day for a mini vacation. Packing for a 3 1/2 day trip proved to be more challenging than I thought. With some editing and a lot of simplifying, I was able to fit everything in a small backpack.
For the meeting, I decided on two simple ensembles that I feel best in: a knee-length, short-sleeve black dress and a black pant paired with a white, button-down tunic. Both are paired with my favorite nude flats and a gold, spiked necklace for a touch of edginess.
For the weekend, I’m bringing along some boyfriend t-shirts and the jeans I’m wearing on the plane. I’m throwing in a pair of sandals and a pair of sunglasses, just in case.

Packing toiletries and makeup is a bit of a challenge. Is anyone else surprised with the number of products they use when they pack? This set of 3 travel bottles from the Dollar Store and empty sample containers are life-savers for traveling. For packing light, decanting is a practical solution.
For makeup and skincare, multi-use items save even more space. Some of my go-to multipurpose items are the Philosophy Pure Grace Shampoo, Bath and Shower Gel, Josie Maran Argan Infinity Lip and Cheek Creamy Oil, and the Aura Cacia Restoring Rosehip Oil.

Packing for a work trip, or any trip, comes down to reflecting on what we need and editing accordingly. For me, this is the perfect time to really look at everything I use and figure out which ones I need for daily use and which have gone unnoticed or unnecessary in my collection.
