I just basically responded to a friend's blog post about this, but I think it can stand alone. I'm not looking to debate this--think and vote how you want, it's your right. I'm just blowing off steam.
I think Palin is making republicans pee their pants with joy. I think it is the sanctimonious bullshit eminating from McCain, too. Him being a war hero, a stalwart pro-lifer, and general evangelicals' aphrodisiac. I think that if Palin wasn't such a knobhead then she could be a really cool lady, but she stands for all the things I want to lay down and die over. As a woman, good for her. As a politician, no thanks.
As far as McCain's choosing her? Well-played, a**hole, but don't start measuring windows in the White House just yet--Obamania just might sweep you out to where Palin thinks the polar bears aughta go.
And as far as McCain being so "clear" and concise with his answers to questions about abortion and the like--God forbid life be complex and require a case by case approach. God forbid middle ground and God forbid the rest.
All that said, I think anyone would be better than George W. Bush, not that he's made the decisions of the past 8 years anyway, bless his heart, he's too stupid for that. Everyone knows Dick Cheney says "what."
Oh, and consider this: It's 2006 and I shoot you in the face. How long should I wait before telling people?
