From Panels to Parties to Sponsors, BlogHer Food '13 Attendees Share It All
BlogHer Food '13 came and went, inspiring attendees to share their experiences on their own blogs and their social media scapes. We've been following along, checking out what you've been saying about panels, parties and sponsors. Now we bring you a round-up of what's being said. Whether you attended or not, the posts linked here will give you a broader view of the conference. (Plus: Some attendees were inspired to create recipes! YUM!)
Canadian Lentils: They had a fabulous sunny corner set up as a recharging area with comfy couches to relax between sessions (& yes, plenty of power strips to recharge mobile devices as well), I could not resist noticing the coincidental similarity between their lentil arrangement and my business card. Not only did they have a steady stream of hot lentil based bites, they gave away lovely iPad cases as keepsakes.
Alexandra Williams, MA of Fun and Fit not only spoke at the conference, but shared some great tid-bits as well as getting creative with some sponsor goodies.
I shall end with a smoothie recipe I created based on ingredients from a few of the BlogHer Food sponsors.
If you're wondering what it's like to be on the other side of the table at a sponsor booth, Sara at Sara's House HD was a volunteer for Common Ground. Her experience of bringing information to our attendees shows the give-and-take can be mutually beneficial.
The women from CommonGround that I was with for the past four days are wonderful! We all enjoy talking so much about agriculture and where the food that you buy in the grocery store is grown and raised. The food bloggers were so friendly and open to asking questions and listening to us that we couldn't have asked for a better audience.
You can learn more and have conversations about farming and food at Common Ground.
I wandered over to the photo booth where I met Sarah, who worked for the photo booth company sponsored by Ninja Kitchen.
When she found out I was from Austin and didn't know anyone (I tell my story to everyone I meet, of course) she wrote on a chalkboard and joined me in my photos.
You have to love kind sponsors who really care!
Of course, as with our conferences, people went home winners too! Annalise of Completely Delicious won a Hamilton Beach Breakfast Sandwich Maker. Mama Harris of Mama Harris' Kitchen kept on winning after the conference is over with a surprise score from Anolon. And Sara Tetreault of Go Gingham scored big with $2000 of new kitchenware or BBQ/grill from the National Pork Board. Among many, many others!
Our attendees are still busy sharing things they've learned and won -- and we're still listening. If you wrote something, share a link below. Also, don't forget to check out our VirtualCon for liveblogs of all of our sessions and amazing photos. A big thank you goes out to all of our sponsors for helping make the event possible and to our attendees for bringing your unique views and passions to Texas. As always, it was our honor.
