The Paradox of Letting Go in Foster Care

So, yes, it's hard to have a child leave your home, for a lot of different reasons. But having them move on to success? Knowing that a family has been given another chance? Totally awesome.

Fostering is unique in so many ways. It's parenting a child as part of a team, reliquishing a lot of decision making, and being able to let go. On the surface it seems so counter-intutive to how we work as humans and as parents,  but when you dig deeper it's so strikingly similar.  We love, nurture, cherish, teach, provide, and then we let go.

We all have our children move on at some point. Is it hard? Yeah. It's hard. But we're parents. This is what we do.

All of us.
