Picking the right color of blush

Blush can make you glow, as well as brightening your complexion with a pop of color; blush also enhances face shape and emphasizes cheekbones.
The color you choose – from pink, peach, deep plum, brown or bronze – makes all the difference to your finished look.

Choosing the right shade for your skin tone is important; here are a few handy tips:

o       Porcelain Skin – pale peach, apricot or very soft natural blush pinks work well, but don’t go for anything too pink as this will overemphasize the natural pink in your skin.

o       Fair Skin – pink shades generally look lovely on fair skin – anything from brownish pink to fuchsia to fresh pink. Be careful with bronzer and avoid anything too dark or with too much orange or shimmer.

o       Light Olive – coral pinks and soft orange tones add warmth to the face. Because the skin is so pale, pinker tones that don’t work on deep olive skin bring a pretty flush to the cheeks. Most bronzers, including pearlized ones, work well on light olive skin.

o       Dark Olive – apricot and peachy pinks create a warm flush, while lighter plums and browns are also flattering. Bronzer works well for you – from warm gold to terracotta – including shimmery finishes.

o       Deep – if you have a cool skin tone, deep shades of plum and rose will look beautiful. Shades of apricot and bronzer are flattering on warm-toned skin.

Some blush palettes contain two complementary colors – a soft neutral - darker color that works well for everyday and for contouring, and a brighter - lighter color that can be used to add freshness or drama.
The soft neutral color can be swept into the hollow below the cheekbones for subtle shading and a little used at the temples for balance.
The brighter color can then be applied to the apples of the cheeks and blended up along the cheekbones.
You can also layer the two to create the perfect depth of color for your skin.
