I noticed in the summer when it was really hot here that my cucumbers got bitter, so I can relate.

Late summer gardens in my part of Texas usually means coming out of the lack of harvest caused by the hot temperatures.  I hate to admit it, but we even hope for hurricanes to break the heat and dry :{  .  Cucumbers were the only thing I had come through the heat, but bitterness was such a problem, pickling was out of the question.

I didn't even know about that! But it is the perfect time of year for it! I have lots of cucumbers so I'm thinking I'll make some refrigerator pickles myself.

I am so pickling this weekend. It is International Pickle Day this Sunday after all. This is an incredible list, I agree -- thank you!

(And I'm not just saying that cuz you link to me.) I'm obsessed with pickles and pickling, and you definitely gave me much to consider here. Thanks, Kalyn!
