a piece of cake ... pops
By greenthumbpink on September 07, 2011
Okay, So I thought I'd be writing about 'green' stuff, plants, gardening, all things horticultural ... but no, here I am writing about cake pops. This trendy new cake concoction was my choice for a United Way Bake Sale I organized at work. I consider myself an avid baker and figured these would be a piece of cake (pun intended). They work basically like this ... 1. bake a cake 2. cool and crumble cake 3. cool cake more, add a gooey substance, roll into balls, cool again 4. dip said balls into a coating i.e.: candy melts or almond bark; I chose almond bark. 5. sprinkle, swirl or what have you, cool(again) wrap and done.
Sounds easy, right? Just like watching Martha assemble a wedding cake in 15 minutes.
With some practice I'm sure I could make some darn good lookin' pops ... but in the mean time they take a lot of patience, time and some more patience. My advice: unless your very creative, have a lot of time & patience, LOVE TO BAKE or are feeling incredibly adventurous & optimistic ... I'd go with cupcakes.
