So I guess I should introduce myself.

Hi, I'm Meg. I'm a 20 year old lesbian living in Lousiana who came out to the fam this summer. Let me tell you...that was, and still is, quite the adventure. Folks I thought would hate me for it have become my biggest advocates. Other folks that I thought would be okay with it really aren't handling it well.

My parents? Well, they're managing. My step-parents are pretty cool with it. I know I sort of shattered my step-mom's world since she wanted me to have a big, catholic wedding, but she's getting over it. My step-dad just doesn't say much. My mom and dad though... Mom can't say the word "lesbian" most of the time. Dad doesn't like to think about it and, despite having given the appearance of being okay with it, recently "unfriended" me on Facebook. (I know, I know. It's weird for kids to be "Facebook Friends" with their parents anyway.) This was accompanied by a particularly hurtful e-mail about not wanting to see "stuff like that". (I guess he was going through pics and found a particularly bothersome one that a) I wouldn't have been tagged in because I keep things like that to a minimum and b) probably didn't call for that sort of reaction anyway.) Great. Thanks, pater.

As far as other aspects of me go, I am a student majoring in French with a concentration in International Studies at "Love Sports University". I'm not a fan (although I do, admittedly, enjoy attending the football games) and have finally grown the ovaries to try to get myself out after 2 years of hell and run-ins with the higher-ups in my college. (The Dean of my college essentially hates me now. Excuse me for trying to find a way to get credits faster! Jeez!) Options thus far include going part-time and going to school to be an EMT (just for a change in scenery and daily activity) or applying to American Universiy in Cairo (long shot, but I can't really lose by trying).

I already have a blog going. It's called Adventures of a Chapstick Pezbian. Feel free to check it out. Honestly, of recent it's been a lot of nothing but rants about school, but I have included an entry about a hate crime committed against a friend of mine a few weeks ago.
