If you're one of those people who considers pizza something that gets delivered in a box, possibly you'll be inspired by how these talented food bloggers are making unusual and delicious pizzas at home. And if you're thinking to yourself that making pizza crust is too much trouble, read on; the variations on crust are endless.
First, the photo is Apple Bacon Pizza from Weekly Dish. Doesn't that sound like a great combination?
Ilva from Lucullian Delights in Tuscany shares her own take on Pizza Dough and Sauce, although she says she has never been to Naples, the true pizza capitol of Italy.
Who could resist Food Blogga's Fresh Fig and Fennel Pizza, plus some memories of childhood thrown in for free.
Nupur from One Hot Stove reports she had been blogging about food for over two years before she shared her family's favorite recipe for pizza, but her Sunday Night Supper Pizza was well worth the wait (with homemade sauce and crust, plus it's vegetarian!)
Master Pizza Maker Stephen at Stephen Cooks has a fabulous looking Late Summer Pizza with Four Cheese, Sweet Cherry Tomatoes, and Oregano. He also has a whole section on Pizza in his Recipe archives; check it out!
It's obvious that Deb at Smitten Kitchen knows a thing or two about making pizza, so her updated recipe for Pizza, Even Sweeter is worth taking a look at.
At Baking and Books, Ari has an impressive looking Carmelized Onion and Spinach (stuffed) Pizza Pie.
Heidi at 101 Cookbooks thinks she has found The Best Pizza Dough Ever, and a lot of commentors seem to agree. Then just when she thought she was through experimenting with pizza dough, she finds a White Whole Wheat Pizza Dough made with wholegrain flour.
If you don't think you're up for making pizza dough, try the Ultra-Thin Crust Pizza with Onions, Mushrooms, and Ricotta from Simply Recipes. Elise uses a flour tortilla for the crust, and the pizza looks delicious. Elise also makes from scratch Homemade Pizza with a very cute helper, and she shares lots of links to other good pizza recipes.
At Morsels and Musings in Australia, Anna makes Arabic Flatbread Pizza, another pizza with a non-traditional crust.
The Roasted Cherry Tomato Tortilla Pizzas from Food and Paper look to me like they would taste amazing.
Here's another idea; Play with Food makes Breakfast Pizza, using a purchased crust.
Finally, Cathy from Not Eating Out in New York has another crust variation with her Red Pepper Pitzas with French Feta, Basil, and Red Onion.
Blogher Food Editor Kalyn Denny also blogs at Kalyn's Kitchen.
