Pondering Functional Fitness--where do you want to feel better?

Hello Juicers! This week was so fun--I fielded your comments and requests for covered topics (keep 'em coming!) and realized that we're getting somewhere! I actually did some deep breathing as Winnie showed me last week--thanks Winnie--as traveling under the threat of Swine Flu tends to stress a girl out.

So this week we're exploring a cool new term (new to me, anyway): Functional Fitness. If you are wondering what this means, think workouts that don't waste your time. Sure, I want to sculpt my abdominals in my copious spare time, but when spare time isn't so copious just give me what I need to do to feel better and get through my day better. As you'll see in the video, Functional Fitness helps us get the everyday stuff--like carrying groceries up many stairs and sitting up straight in your office chair--done without pain or injury.  In addition to toning, it just helps you feel better. I'm already a fan. I used to dismiss exercise that didn't hurt because I thought it was not effective, but then the back and knee pain from everyday life set in.

The video is a fabulous intro--thanks Kelly of Fitness Fixation--made me think of all the other, um, challenged areas of my body that could use some attention. We're going to run a series of videos on Functional Fitness, so please people please leave us with either some tips or some ideas for future episodes. We will showcase the ideas we get in the video, as well as the members who provided them!

Another way you can give us ideas: Blog them! And tag your post "TheJuice" so that we can find them.
