So Tuesday evening, I may have attended the BEST yoga class of my life at Life Yoga Studio.
You think I'm kidding? Let me explain.
My friend is trying to get back in to yoga, and signed up at a studio I've never been to. She hadn't practiced in a few years and said she signed up for a level 2/3 power yoga class.
I couldn't let her go alone! Plus it was Valentine's! Single ladies should not be alone on Valentine's!
We got there a little early and chatted with the instructor, signed the waivers, etc. We asked her about some other class, in particular, a class called funky flow.
She said it is "funky" because of her music. Hmmm. She continued that her music choices for all of her classes were a bit "different". We had no clue what that meant.
Class finally started and the "music" was waves. I didn't understand how this music was different.
About 10 minutes later, after we were nice and warm she called out something along the lines of "now let's do some salutations", walked over to the ipod and changed the music ...
I tried SO hard to keep a straight face, and not turn around to my friend to start busting a move when I heard the song ...
"All The Single Ladies" by Beyonce was blaring.
The rest of the class she had music with the love theme ... but it kept me going. It was perfect tunes for this power yoga {which btw I'm still sore from} class.
I absolutely LOVE her style.
Obviously, I wouldn't go to her class for meditation {although she has a candlelight class I'm really curious to check out, so I may end up taking that previous statement back}, but any other type of class, well, she's my new favorite instructor! I need to save a bit and finish my classes at my current studio, but I'm totally switching to Life Yoga Studio when all of that is said and done!
Oh! And before I head off to work, I just HAVE to share this picture I found on facebook! I apologize if you find it offensive, but I think it is HILARIOUS! I think I laughed so hard I scared Sydney!
OK, now back to yoga talk ...
Would you be in to a class like the one I described? Or do you prefer traditional classes all the time?
Also, how do you feel about Power Yoga?
