We interviewed more than 400 women for our new body image guide, Does This Pregnancy Make Me Look Fat? When we asked expectant mothers to describe their bodies, there was little hesitation. We were struck by the visceral quality of their descriptions, which were filled with enthusiasm, awe, and sometimes sheer frustration and disgust.

These illustrations from our book represent a sampling of the actual words women shared with us. What words would you use/have used to describe your pregnant body?

G. stands for GIRL

Ok. The baby does NOT live in My (nor Your) stomach! (Very funny, all the years before My Pregnancy has begun (circa. 2010).) All of the Body Images during the years before pregnancy begins, in one's own body, is of course, preparing the body for pregnancy in the future, only. During All of those years, there is no Baby living inside Your Body yet! Once finally Pregnant, My Body is the (All Grown Up now) Beautiful Body Shape of Girl Body... (photo soon, I promise.)

...With, from the beginning of the first instant Pregnant, a tiny, yet BIG baby Boy living inside My Body. Baby.

Baby.
(Not... a lump of Body without any eyes; nose; teeth; ears; nor face; hands; nor feet (illustrated: Your baby as a fetus - NOT TRUE)).
A Baby Boy. A tiny Baby Boy, yet BIG baby Boy, whom can possibly live there, in My Body, He growing more big over Nine (9) Months, for up to Nine (9) Months.
Pregnant: Where does The Baby live inside My Body? Just below My stomach, there is a tender part of My Body between My two hip bones. He lives in there, when I am Pregnant! During the entire pregnancy, My Body remains the same Beautiful Shape of Perfect Girl Body Shape. (photo soon, I promise.)

How BIG can the Baby get over Nine (9) Months? As Big as My Hands in the Lotus Pose.

Pregnancy really does make Me: HAPPY. And all of the babies I am surrounded with (during Pregnancy and after pregnancy) make Me more and more happy! And when I am pregnant, I get colour in my face! Really Pretty.

You know, how in the Single Life, you were, like, having fun and getting ahead at work and falling in love and felt great and looked great, but never REALLY happy yet?

Also, a NEW discovery! Maternity Leave, which is after the Baby was born (after nine (9) months from when I was first pregnant) is actually an ordinary every day life in a World of Babies! All of the babies are so cute every day! So, I'll have to catch you-all later: you, my friend(s), etc. whom I have had no time for at all. Babies really do need the MOST attention.
