And you know that isn't usually pretty, right?
Actually this week the team challenge didn't seem to bring out as much drama as they usually do. One big diva, one designer who got picked on, one backpedaling, two-faced beeyotch. I know that might sound like a lot, but usually it's all twelve who would be engaging in such antics!! of course the episode came with an unexpected twist ending which brought all the drama and drama-seeking viewer could ever want!! You'll just have to stay tuned and find out.
This episode actually brought us some good learnings before the challenge was even announced. For example, we learned that:
- AJ is skinny. Really skinny.
- April is sad that no one got her diaper from last week. But Peach "got the diaper". And you know? I wouldn't be saying that out loud, Peach. You're on shaky ground as it is.
- April doesn't have great editing skills. She didn't know to edit out the diaper. And she didn't know to not compare egotistical designtestants to Hitler. Because while Gretchen may be annoying and obnoxious, I think a Hitler reference might be a bit over the top, how about you?
We also learn that this is a team challenge, one where there will be a six-piece collection from each team.

The teams break down like this:
Last week's winner (and immunity holder) Michael C picks Gretchen.
Who picks Christopher.
Who picks Andy.
Who picks Ivy.
Who picks AJ.
So, winners of every challenge to date are on this team.
April picks Mondo.
Who picks Michael D.
Who picks Valerie.
Who picks Casanova.
Who is left with last choice Peach.
This was the Garnier-sponsored challenge, so we had to hear some blah blah about hair trends, and then later had to spend 60 rather than 30 seconds seeing models getting their hair done. Whatevs.
The designers were given a brief period to sketch out their vision for the respective collections and then sent to Mood to spend $1000...which made them all pretty happy.
On Team "Luxe," Gretchen took the lead. Big surprise. They decided to take the approach where rather than each designer being primarily responsible for one piece, they would all work on various parts of every outfit. Not really a great strategic choice -- in fact, a choice that made it seem like no one wanted to be in the position of taking ownership and responsibility for how any one outfit came out. Or maybe Gretchen wanted to do it that way because she figured that way she could work on every garment and sprinkle her magic Gretchen dust on every one, making it so much better than it could ever be without her guidance and special attention.
Team "Military and Lace" was obviously totally inspired by Prince in "Purple Rain", even though none of them said so out loud. But I can tell. They decided to each do an outfit for the collection. I suppose it's true that it could be challenging for six different designers and their individual aesthetics to come together and create a cohesive collection, but this team was well-aware that they were the underdogs and seemed pretty determined to work together to overcome the low expectations the judges (and we, the viewers) might have of them.
For me the biggest, most exciting moment of the episode came at Mood. No, not because they got to spend $1000, but because they showed Swatch, store mascot and apparently crabby little dog. After the requisite "Thank you Mood," Tim threw out a "Bye, Swatch!" and there he was! Swatch lives! Hooray!!!!
Just had to share.
Tim came in for his visit, and other than a brief diversion provided by his "Zippers and chains? Talk to me!" reaction to Valerie's work-in-progress, Tim's visit served as an anti-deus ex machina -- it sent Casanova into a tizzy, rather than solved all his problems!
Casanova is tired of being criticized. Casanova thinks this is all bullshit. Casanova is thinking of quitting. Casanova is a poor abused innocent.
Or, as Valerie put it: Casanova needs to put his big boy panties back on.
But other than this diva meltdown, Team Prince (which is so many fewer words than Military and Lace, so I'm going with it) seems to be working efficiently together.
Team Luxe, on the other hand, is having a chaotic time of it. And, while they all seem to want to blame Michael C. for it, none of the rest of them seems
