Pulitzer News Flash- The Prize Goes to Sally Hemings

As journalists around the world rush to see who's just been awarded the Pulitzer Prize, WVFC's eye was drawn by one non-journo on the list. The Pulitzer for history, whose past winners include Doris Kearns Goodwin and Carl Sandburg, can now add to its ranks The Hemingses of Monticello: An American Family, by Annette Gordon-Reed (W.W. Norton & Company), which the Pulitzer committee called "a painstaking exploration of a sprawling multi-generation slave family that casts provocative new light on the relationship between Sally Hemings and her master, Thomas Jefferson."
