Oops. I thought I was going to have plenty of time to write a completely from scratch post about pumpkins. Hah. When I planned the Month of Pumpkins I apparently forgot that this was our 13 year old's birthday weekend.

Rows of pumpkins

Good thing a lot of other people have written posts about pumpkins...

The Scrogin Family went to a pumpkin patch and that's one cute kid.

Then there's the folks from Green Grass Grows ... umm... It looks like they had fun. Uh, quite the contrast between the two families, eh?

Hope is the thing with feathers made me queasy talking about fall in Chicago. They're talking SNOW overnight... I'm not amused! She also shares her recipe for Pumpkin Crunch, which sounds like something the kids would love (if we hadn't just OD'd on desserts at Claim Jumper.)

Now here's a recipe I've never seen before... Pumpkin & Prune Tea Bread. Interesting and worth trying, I think.

Did you know you can make pumpkin butter in a crockpot? I didn't!

I'll leave you with something else I would definitely eat... if I hadn't OD'd on birthday dessert... pumpkin cinnamon rolls. Click that link, look at those things... yum, right?

Pumpkin seems to never get the respect that it deserves.

For years, oneof our best selling products at our gourmet food web site ( http://www.cybercucina.com ) has been Sweet Pumpkin Pesto which has a multitude of uses, such as in dishes (like lasagna), antipasti (such as bruschetta) or swirled into sauces to enhance overall flavor.

Versatile and delicious!

We went to our local patch today.

I paid $9.00 for a HUGE pumpkin, $3.50 for a medium/small and .50 for tiny gourds.

Cheapest ever. Last year this patch was totally wiped out by the Southern California wildfires, and my family bought grocery store pumpkins for 5 times the price while fleeing to better air in Florida.

I'm happy to say Lombardi Ranch is back and as great as ever with hay mazes, sunflower patches, live band, the whole shebang!
